October 20, 2024, Lay Day was observed throughout The A.M.E. Zion Church. The North Charlotte District of the Western North Carolina Conference met at the Reeves Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, Davidson, NC, Rev. Dr. William McKenith, Pastor.

The worship program participants included Ms. Tina Harrison (Rockwell A.M.E. Zion) who did an excellent job presiding over the service, Ms. Mildred Phifer (Bethesda A.M.E. Zion), Ms. Castella Conner (Reeves Temple A.M.E. Zion) and Ms. Gloria Joyner Johnson (Little Rock A.M.E. Zion).

The speaker of the afternoon was Rev. Danissa Hart of Torrence Grove A.M.E. Zion Church.
The title of the sermon, “Expecting one Thing but Receiving Another” used Acts 3:1-10 as the scriptural reference. When we come to the temple we should expect a change. In our lives, we should expect a miracle every day. The lame man at the Beautiful Gate was expecting money, but instead received the ability to walk, jump and praise God.
Both the Torrence Grove Choir and the Reeves Temple Choir provided musical selections. The District President Ms. Carolyn Hubbard led the Laity Rededication Litany.

Presiding Elder of the North Charlotte District, Rev. Dr. Wardell Henderson gave remarks and thanked the laity for all they do to keep the church moving forward.

Dr. McKenith and the Reeves Temple Church were very gracious hosts and gave gift bags to everyone! The service ended using the Lay Council Closing Prayer.

The officers of the North Charlotte District Lay Council are:
President–Ms. V. Carolyn Hubbard, 1st Vice President–Ms. Sandra Y. Pickens, Secretary–Ms. Doris Chisholm, Treasurer-Mrs. Carol Gaston and Chaplain–Ms. Cindy Saunders.
